New Makeups - Part I

It has been awhile A.G.A.I.N I know~ Opps, did not mean to but I was caught up by too many things lately, uni, exams, relationships, friends...

But here am I with a few of my new purchasers. You know the drill, even though you are just sitting at home but a few clickings on the laptop would end up with all the parcels at your doorstep *smh* That is what exactly happen to me.

Summer is coming (although not quiet in the UK, you know how unpredictable the weather is in the UK), so I thought it would be nice to switch things up by incorporating some warmer shades in my makeup.

First is this Urban Decay lipstick. This is one of the 3 lipsticks that came out with the Heat Palette last summer. I was searching up and down for this shade called Heat but it was sold out in every Sephora I went last year. I was so determined to get it, so I searched online to see whether they still have it in the UK. Apparently there was praise the Lord Hallelujah~ I quickly ordered it and then sent to my friend's place.

First thing first the packaging. It is such a beaut! It has a coppery reflective lid. I have had it for more than a year now and the surface is still looking very good. You know how some metal finish they would oxidizd and look kind of rusted, but it has not happen to this.

It was a very pretty bright red with gold flakes in it. The gold is very prominent I have to say, it is definitely not something I would wear during the daytime. However I discovered a few days ago, if I do not apply it fully which I just dab the product on lightly and spread it out using my finger it could be very wearable during daytime, especially it is summer now.

This is not a formula that I would usually go for as you know I am all about nude and matte, but I think I could make use for it in this season. I do not really want my lips to look super matte in summer, I would prefer it to look a bit softer.

And then I got a few eyeshadow palettes. The nyx palette was introduced by my friend, she told me this palette is so much better than those Urban Decay palettes, which I was so curious to know how good it is.

Turned out there are actually not too bad considering nyx is a drugstore brand. But I do not really like some of the colours. Some colours especially the lighter matte shades are actually quite stiff, I cannot really get in with fluffy brush. I will have to either use a denser brush or my finger to make it work. However those shades at the lower left of the palette are very good quality. They are very highly-pigmented, buttery and they blend beautifully.

There are 2 matte shades in this palette which I used them fro contouring my nose and eyes. Even though they are a bit stiff, I did make them work. I think this palette is pretty travel-friendly if you like a very warm eye look.

I got these 2 Makeup Revolution palettes just because they are cheap haha~ I have heard so much about the brand and how affordable they are but I have not owned anything from them, so I thought let's give it a go, so I got a warmer palette and a more cool tone one. Look how stunning these colours are I am not even joking, they are so so so nice.

I have to say, the quality of the eyeshadows is A.W.E.S.O.M.E! They are so soft and buttery. They go on like a dream and they are shockingly pigmented. For the price I paid for, I think they are so so so good. One downside about them is they are all shimmery and glittery shades, there is not a single matte shade. It is just not practical for me. And even though all the colours are stunning, I would not be able to create a complete eye look with just one palette.

I would not be able to use more than one colours from the palette or else the whole eye look would be too much. The only occasion I would make use of this palette is when I am going out to a club or a very fancy dinner, other than that I do not think this is very usable. However it is still overall a very nice quality palette I promise.

I have been wanting an Anastasia Beverly Hills eyeshadow palette for the longest time ever. I was debating whether to get the Renaissance palette or the Sub Culture palette but after they came out with this Soft Glam palette I changed my mind immediately and got this instead.

This palette is still to the warmer side but I think I could make more use of it than the Renaissance palette. I like cool tone nude and taupe colour for day to day looks but I thought it would be nice too to go more towards the warmer side during summer.

The quality of the eyeshadow is the bomb! It is so pigmented and it blends like a dream. I do not know either it is because I have got a new eye primer, but usually with my old Too Faced eye primer I will have to lightly dab some translucent powder after applying eye primer to create a smoother surface so the following application of eyeshadow would not be patchy and will go on smoothly.

I have no problem of patchiness with this eyeshadow at all. I would have to test this palette further to see whether it is the quality of the eyeshadow itself being awesome or the my eye primer is a saviour for all the eyeshadows. I have not make a lot use of the shimmery shades in the palette, they are just not something I would normally wear, but I have swatched them on my arm they are beautiful!

UPDATE:
I have tried my new eye primer with my other eyeshadows and they still gets patchy and hard to blend without me putting a translucent powder over the primer before the shadow. So it is definitely not my new eye primer that does wonder, it is the quality of the ABH eyeshadow!!! They are just awesome. I mean, it is not really an extra extra step to apply a layer of powder to create a better canvas for the following eyeshadow but still... you know, a step lesser right right right? I will talk more about my new eye primer in my next post.

It can be a little dusty with the shadow itself you just have to be extra careful about it. You have to be really light-handed when dipping your brush into the pan or else the will go everywhere. However judging from how easily the product comes off the pan, I can see there is hardly any fallout on my face which is a plus of course.

I have seen many people complaining about ABH eyeshadow palettes' packaging, it gets dirty very easily but this does not stop me from adoring its packaging. It has this velvety suede-like surface which is super fancy looking. Even though it is just cardboard after all but it's overall quality is still pretty good.

I have a tiny little problem with 2 shimmery shades of this palette, Glistening and Fairy. They look very pretty if you do swatches but they appear to be little weird on the eyes, not sure whether it is because of the shades do not compliment my complexion. I have no issue with the glitter itself, the glitter is very nice, not too big or chunky, it is just the shades really, they are more towards yellow and golden shades instead of beige or neutral shade.

I have my eyes on 2 Fenty Beauty Products until now, one is the red lipstick that claims to suit all skin tone, another one is this Glass Bomb.

It has like a very nice shimmer in it, not too strong but still visible. The glitter in it is very fine but very reflective. I love it very much. When you swatched it on the hand it looks like it has got colour in it but on lips it does not really show much colour but instead it has a a very glossy and shiny finish with tiny little glitters. I would not wear it on its own, I just use it as a top gloss.

It smells awesome, it has that sweet vanilla scent which I think everyone would love it. It is not sticky at all, it feels very comfortable on the lips however it would still gets sticky if you apply too much. The way I apply it is jut on the middle of my lips, right below my cupid bows and in the middle of my lower lip. It will then gives you a very juicy and pouty lips which looks beautiful in summer.

One thing I do not really like about this is it dries down pretty quickly. I would have to touch up the gloss every time before I leave my place to give it that very glossy finish that I would like even though I have applied it when I was doing my makeup. You get the idea? However overall it is a very nice gloss, it is going to be my summer fave I reckon.

I have got 2 Maybelline Super Stay Matte Ink Lipsticks. They have came out with new shades not long ago, as compared to the previous original shades they first came out, there are more nude shades now which is more my cup of tea. I have always wanted to try this collection, I have heard to much good things about it until one day I thought I would want to reward myself so I got 2 shades.

They are both pretty similar to be honest. Amazonian is warmer and deeper whereas Fighter is more wearable. I thought I would like Amazonian more when I first got it but in fact I wore Fighter more often.

Their staying power is SO SO GOOD!!! I am not even joking!!! They are so so good and I was so shocked when I first wore it to a dinner. I went for chinese food, you know how greasy chinese food is but my lips looked nearly perfect after the meal. How shocking that is? I do not need to touch up at all after the meal.

I do not really know how to categorize this lip product, it is not liquid because it is much thicker than all the liquid lipsticks that I have had. It is thicker, more gel like texture but denser if that makes sense. It can be a bit hard to apply because of its texture but it has a pretty sharp edge doe-foot applicator, you cannot apply it in a hurry or else it would be a hot mess trust me.

It does not dry down to a very matte finish, instead it has a glossy-looking finish. Do not get me wrong, it does dry down completely just like other liquid lipsticks but the finish after it has dried down, it does not look matte matte, it is still kind of reflective when the light hits. OMG it is so hard to explain, get it yourself and you will know. Even if it has dried down, it has a slightly sticky feeling but I can totally get over with it due to its long lasting power.

I think it is because of it's tiny glossy looking finish, it is not drying at all. Because of its high staying power it is very hard to remove. Normal makeup removal wipes would not get it off, you must have eyes and lips removal.

I have always been the biggest fan of the nyx soft matte lip cream. Of all the liquid lipsticks out there, nyx soft matte lip cream always have a special place in my heart, there are one of favourite liquid lipsticks. They have came out with new shades this year. Their shade collection is massive already, they have so so many shades in this collection, even though they are not very consistent with the quality but they have different nudes to all very bright and colorful shades.

The shade I got this time is called Leon. It is a darker nude. It is 2 shades darker than my favourite shade Abu Dhabi from the range, still that classic sweet vanilla scent, a tiny little streaky but I can make it work. It is not drying at all however the staying power is not that great, will have to re-apply it after food.

You can see from the picture above, the nyx liquid lipstick is that classic matte finish, but the Maybelline ones are a bit glossy looking. There are all dried down though, it is just Maybelline ones have a bit of a different finish, I have not came across this kind of finish until I have got these from Maybelline.

Anyway, I do not get so much of a wearing of these nude colours because it is summer now. I wish to change up my lip colour in this season.

That is it for this post.

Till next time~xx
