New Purchases | May 2017

It's been long since I last blogged.

I always have no idea where has my allowance gone to when it is only the beginning of the month even though I spent within budget on these makeup, skincare and body care. Things get worse if it is your friend's birthday month and I so happen to have many mutual friend with this birthday girl. #fml

Anyways... My all-time philosophy is 'spend first, think later'~ Hahaha, so there we go with all the new purchasers this month.

 L'Occitane Shea Intensive Hand Balm 150ml RM135

I am a huge hand cream freak, I think my hands deserve the best hand cream because of all the washings I have done in the day time (it's not like I do a lot of washings though). I have started to use hand cream when I was in UK because of the super drying weather and I could not live without it ever since. I am not a person who applies hand cream whenever my hands feel dry, I cannot deal with sticky and creamy, greasy stuffs on my hands when I am 'conscious' (you know what I mean) so I only use it right before I go to bed.

I have tried quite a few of brands that are popular for their hand creams including Crabtree&Evelyn. At the end of the day, I still go back to L'Occitane shea butter because it is the only one that I think it is think enough although I don't have very dry hands. All the others that I've tried seemed to be too thin to me even at Malaysia weather.

One day when I was browsing the L'Occitane website, I saw they came out with this new hand balm which is more intense that the one I am using. I have been wanting to try the more intense one however I couldn't get my hands on them because they are sold out both online and in-store.

I am running out of hand cream since the mid of June so I treasure every bit of it until I have the money to get a new one. Later when I allowance came in and I went into the L'Occitan store, the new intensive hand balm is in-stock. OMG! I straight away grabbed it and paid at the cashier, without giving it a second thought.

The price difference between the right one and the left one is only RM10, which I am so willing to pay for the extra to get 25% more shea butter in the hand cream. The scent of the hand balm has not much difference with the shea hand cream. It still applies very smoothly and is absorbed very nicely into the skin. You know how some cream or lotion which is too think and it does not sink into the skin even though you have applied it overnight? It is definitely not the case here.

I will have to use it for a longer period of time to know whether it the worth RM10 extra.

Sephora was having Gold and Black member sale last week. I know Sephora has 2 sales each year so I reckon it was almost time for it to have sale (and also Hari Raya is coming ya know). I was talking to Evon and Vanessa and asked them to start saving money because Sephora sale is coming soon, and the a week later, they announced about the sale. No surprise, everything was 20% off during the sale.

Kat Von D Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette RM250
Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick in Bow N Arrow RM99

I have been obsessed with nude colour which has a matte finish for a very long time and this Kat Von D eye palette has been sitting in my to-buy list for the longest time ever, so I decided to grab it during the Sephora sale even though I still think it is a bit pricey after 20% discount as compared to the Tarte  Tartelette In Bloom Clay Palette which seemed to be a much better bargain in the sale. I wanted to grab the Tarte palette too but I was too poor to do so. Instead I persuaded Coco to buy it by being such a bad influencer. I guess those close friends of mine would spend a lot more on makeup because of me hahaha~

I mean, look at those colours! Aren't they gorgeous?!? I am not a fan of brown colour, I am more towards taupe shade, I think I look better in taupe as compared to brown. This palette is the perfect palette to me, it is matte, it is nude, it is taupe and it is pigmented. I wanted to much to swatch this palette once I got back home with it but I did not. I wanted to take a nice untouched picture of it first before ruining it.

It is not a plastic packaging, it is a cardboard, a quite hard and firm cardboard. I'm not quite impressed with cardboard packaging palette considering it is of a much higher price point no matter how good quality the cardboard is, it is still a cardboard. It will get scratched easily at the corners of the palette I reckon and if it did, I would be super upset. It is kinda dense though but I think it is the weight of the mirror.

I especially like the orange colour in the palette. I still have no idea how to use it but it stands out so much among all the shades. It would look great on the lower lash line I guess, we will see.

I am very into the Kat Von D liquid lipstick because it really does not budge at all, it lasts so well. So I decided to grab another shade in this sale. I do not really fancy this shade that I have chose, it looks too grey-ish on me. However I think it would look better if I have a paler skin tone.

Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation in Buff Bisque $5.99
Morphe E48 $8.99
Morphe E10 $5.99
Morphe E36 $4.99
Morpher E35 $4.99

I have heard a lot of excellent reviews about this Wet n Wild Photofocus Foundation on Youtube so I decided to give it a go. So since I was going to order this from the US, I might as well get something else to be sent together and I chose to purchase a few more Morphe brushes.

I first discovered Morphe brushes when I was in UK and it was from all the Youtube beauty gurus. I was completely blown away by the quality of these brushes, they are so so soft and of good quality, most importantly they are so affordable. You know how makeup brushes are more freaking expensive especially the Sephora ones (Sephora own brand). I have owned 2 Sephora brushes,  few Real Techniques', a few Sigma's and some Zoeva's. Nothing compares to Morphes one considering their prices.

I am hooked onto Morphe brushes ever since and started collecting it. Well, can't deny it is a pain in the ass when it comes to cleaning them, gosh~ Morphe has a few brush line, I have only tried the Elite (E series) and the Flawless Collection (M series). The E series that I just bought was the new ones which the tips of the brushes are brown. They used to be white tips and they discontinued it and brought out the Elite II collection (still E series anyway).

Praise the lord Hallelujah that I ordered the correct shade. It is a medium coverage foundation and it gives a between matte and sheer finish which I like. I have no problem with it coming in a flat spatula thingy for the application even though it does not make the application any easier, but still it's better than pouring the product out directly from the bottle. The only downside about it is it smells so bad. It has the very cheap kind of paint smell which I hate. The scent does not linger around long anyway but still, not a fan of the scent.

I must say, I am not a frequent user of foundations, as in I do not normally use foundations on my daily routine. So I do not know how this foundation lasts throughout the day.

Sexy Look Black Mask 4's RM29.90
My Scheming Mask 5's RM39.90

I cannot say this enough, I AM A SHEET MASKS FREAK!

I get extremely insecure when I pull out my drawer and find that I only have a few face masks left. So I decided to buy a lot of sheet masks when my allowance comes in this month, and I did. I used to love Naruko's face masks, the Raw Job's Tears Mask and the Rose & Botanic HA Aqua Cubic Masks. However I found these Naruko's masks have not much effect on me anymore (I think it's because I'm getting old). Therefore I have decided to splurge on some more expensive masks and see.

I bought Naruko masks in bulk, it was around RM3 per piece and not I am willing to spend RM7-8 per piece, which is more than double the price that I used to pay. Comparing Taiwanese masks and Korean masks, I very much prefer Taiwanese masks, like really.

Coco asked me what is the difference between the normal masks and the black masks. Actually it is more of the texture of the mask sheet itself that makes the difference. I find black masks are a bit thicker that those normal white colour mask sheets, therefore they site nicer on my face and do not move around that much. You know how thin those white mask sheets and they tend to slip off if you do not lay down properly, but back masks do not, that's what I like about black masks.

I have heard a lot of about Sexy Look masks, it's advertisements used to always come up in the intro of 康熙来了. I am not familiar with this brand however the one sheet that I have tried amazed me, it has gold foil on the mask. I was so impressed because it looks fancy af hahaha. I would need to try a few more to see how it works.

Till next time when I have the money to spend again *wink*.

Love,
Xiaohui
